Our Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) team are so much more than CSR – they work on issues such as equality, diversity and helping make Carrow Road a Home for Everyone. This why the Canaries Trust supports the following campaigns, and many more.

 

Level Playing Field

 

Level Playing Field are striving to remove barriers so that all fans can enjoy and equal experience at live sporting events around the country, ensuring that all venues are fully accessible and inclusive.

 

They offer advice and guidance to disabled fans, visitors, staff, players and clubs across all sports, on the subject of accessibility issues and facilities at stadiums on both match and non-match days. This includes access to all stadium areas such as reception areas, ticket office, shops, amenities, stadium seating, hospitality and VIP areas parking etc.

 

They can be commissioned to undertake a professional access audit to ensure that clubs are meeting their legal duties in line with existing legislation and guidance. For more information about Level Playing Field and Unite for Access, visit levelplayingfield.org.uk for more information.

Rainbow Laces Campaign

 

The Rainbow Laces Campaign is one of the best ways to show support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport and it has been around for ten years. It is thought that over the past decade, over a million people have “laced up” in support of the community in all areas of sport.

 

However, the key message is don’t stop now as large parts of the LGBTQ+ community still do not feel safe watching or taking part in sport – be that football at Carrow Road or anywhere and anything else.

 

By wearing the laces, fans are sending a clear message that everyone is welcome at our great club. Whether it’s a player in the famous yellow and green or one of us in the crowd we do all have some kind of platform.

 

Football vs Homophobia.

 

With reports of discrimination and prejudice on the rise there’s no better time to support a campaign with very strong links to our club. What is Football v Homophobia (FvH)? FvH exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels in football. What is the link to the Canaries? FvH was launched back in 2010 by the Justin Campaign, named after our very own Justin Fashanu – the first professional player to be publicly out as gay. The call to action in February is linked to his birthday on the 19th. Some of the most notable early events took place around Carrow Road and featured Justin’s niece Amal Fashanu and the Proud Canaries.

 

We want Carrow Road to be a place where everyone is happy and confident to be their true selves – out, proud and united behind our team in yellow and green.

 

Kick it Out Campaign

 

In 1993, Kick it Out was set up to fight racism in football. Since its inception, they have made huge strides in raising awareness, confronting issues and making football a safer and more inclusive environment.

 

Kick it Out run education programmes for academy players, parents and fans, and encourage everyone to call out discrimination.Unfortunately, racism is still a major issue in football across Europe and beyond.

 

Ultimately, we want our football grounds to be places where points deductions are not necessary and everyone feels safe, included and able to follow support their team.

 

For us in the Canaries Trust, the emphasis should always be on the fans to manage their own spaces positively and that means standing up to racism and other discriminatory language whenever we hear it.
