IN THE COMMUNITY

Apart from being the largest independent shareholder in Norwich City Football Club, the Trust are regularly involved in a number of community and national initiatives. These include:

  • Since 2019, the Trust has helped the Norwich Foodbank with an annual collection on matchdays. In March this year, before the Rotherham game, we manned two collection points with volunteers from the foodbank. As usual, our generous fans dug deeply, and we received donations of £702 and 231kg of food and toiletries. This generosity will help families in the Norwich area who are struggling to make ends meet.

  • The Syrian Canaries fan group has 600 members; however, they are unable to shop online to purchase Club shirts or memorabilia. Through our Shirts for Syria campaign, our wonderful supporters donated hundreds of shirts and other items of clothing, as well as cash donations amounting to £480, which meant we were able to send two batches of shirts and cold weather items over to Syria. With the blessing of the Syrian Canaries, we were also able to donate some shirts to the Norwich International Youth Project, which supports young refugees from parts of the world (including Syrians) who are based in Norfolk.

  • In 2020, we set up our Mental Health Team with the aim of promoting mental wellbeing within the football community and beyond. The Trust’s Mental Health Team post daily on social media with advice and signposting to various organisations equipped to help those in need. The team also produce Mental Health Minis, where they interview people from the world of politics, sports, journalism, and fans of the Club about their experiences in the hope people will resonate and realise they're not alone.

  • The Trust also support a range of green initiatives, including Green Football Weekend by holding a Pledgeball stall outside the ground. Our passionate Board members have managed to persuade fans, ex-players and even a celebrity or two to sign up for various pledges to reduce their carbon footprint.
